Job Description

Job purpose/summary

This role requires analytical and communication skills to work collaboratively with the business across technical and business domains to help produce the best solutions and meet departmental needs. This is a lead role, and the selected candidate will be required to have excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management. This role requires broad and deep technology knowledge combined with the ability to help create solutions to address the business requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing technical management processes and activities, such as trade studies or risk management activities, specific requirements, interfaces, or design solutions, which may be identified as non-optimal and changing to increase system-wide performance
  • Developing electrical drawings, including one-line, three-line, communication, and wiring diagrams 
  • Designing control systems and logic, including determining and implementing appropriate control sequences 
  • Developing test plans to ensure they meet the technical, functional, performance, and business requirements
  • Managing the systems engineering technical process, including the development of systems architectures, trade studies, models, the definition of requirements and their allocation in the design, validation, and verification, and other systems engineering related responsibilities through the development lifecycle
  • Undertaking a wide range of tasks related to the design, implementation, and delivery of real-time information systems solutions
  • Providing senior-level support on complex IT design efforts including custom application, commercial enterprise application, application integration, and data integration projects
  • Performing technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation activities in support of programs and development efforts
  • Driving direct system design and development at all stages of the development lifecycle, requirements including preliminary design, critical design, product realization, design verification testing, system integration, qualification, and certification
  • Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that consider technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Working closely with product management and engineering teams


The ideal candidate will demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Providing engineering advice and direct technical assistance essential to the research, design, development, integration, implementation, evaluation, and testing of IT solutions as necessary
  • Capturing detailed technology requirements 
  • Evaluating contracted systems designs, interfaces, and integration work for effectiveness in resolving complex information systems and engineering requirements
  • Providing technical expertise for the design, development, qualification, integration, and fielding of program protection and security solutions 
  • Providing appropriate technical guidance to engineers within the project teams to ensure design standards and work practices
